Psalm 6:9 The LORD has heard my plea; the LORD will answer my prayer. Psalm 36:8 You feed them from the abundance of your own house, letting them drink from your rivers of delight. Psalm 96:2 Sing to the LORD; bless his name. Each day proclaim the good news that he saves. Psalm 126:3 Yes, the LORD has done amazing things for us! What joy! By faith we proclaim that He is the Giver of Dreams and the Director of Paths. By Faith we proclaim that He pours out His blessing on His people and makes the works of their hands prosper. By faith we proclaim the God is faithful and provides for His people. By faith we proclaim that God can do anything He wants. By faith we proclaim that He works through the weak and powerless to glorify His name. By faith we proclaim that He will make a way where there seems to be no way. The Lord God Almighty, the Creator, the Maker of the Universe, the Lover of Humanity, the Miracle Worker, Faithful Friend, Perfect and Patient Father, Defender and Protector, Shelter and Sustainer, the Prince of Peace. Amen
Malachi 4:2 “But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture. Here’s a new name! The Sun of Righteousness! I thought at first that maybe it was a misspelling and was supposed to be the SON of Righteousness… but when I looked at the Hebrew it was translated “sun”. Interesting. I have no idea what that means…. but here’s my best guess. The sun is what we all revolve around. It provides warmth and light and generally allows us to live on this planet. Without the sun we’d freeze and die (or I guess God could have created us differently). Metaphorically, if Jesus is the Sun, then we revolve around Him. He provides warmth and light and gives us life. He is the sun of our universe, and our lives should always be reflecting that. Maybe we could be like sunflowers with our faces always towards the Sun. Here’s an interesting commentary on the names of Christ that mentions this particular name. The other think I liked in this verse is that it reminded me of the Christmas song, “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” (the line that goes “risen with healing in His wings”). I think it’s beautiful. It reminds me of a phoenix. A phoenix would die and rise again from its ashes, and had healing properties (its tears could heal). I think sickness is one thing that was brought into our world by “The Fall” that hurts us the most (okay, violent crime is bad, too). Every time I see a commercial for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Research I want to cry. I thank God that my children don’t have a life-threatening illness! Ultimate healing would be wonderful. That’s one thing Jesus will bring. Feel like a frisky calf lately? I see calves jumping around ( it kind of reminds me of my students when the bell rings!). Kicking, jumping, running, going in circles, throwing their heads back… That’s what we’ll be like when Jesus comes back! He will free us from all those things that evil brought into the world. I’d dance, that’s for sure! Yeah God!
